You can never have too much air conditioning.

It isn’t difficult to lie down and get sleep when it is cool in the house.

When I want to get some good sleep, my only requirement is to have it cool in the bedroom.

I don’t think you can ever have too much air conditioning when you are trying to get a good night’s sleep. I don’t turn my heat on in the bedroom, for this very reason. I have a thermostat that allows me to turn the heat off, so I can have a good night’s sleep and wake up refreshed and ready to start my day. Sleep is important to me since I don’t get to relax often. Being an intern in a trauma center means I spend about seventy percent of my time at the hospital, and possibly in surgery. No one wants a surgeon that is yawning and finding it difficult to keep their eyes open. That’s why my thermostat is kept at fifty in the winter. I don’t want to freeze, but I want to wrap up in my blankets and feel swaddled and safe. During the summer, I still keep my thermostat at sixty. I have my ceiling fans on high, hoping to keep it as cool as humanly possible. There are heavy drapes on my windows that block out sunlight, but also keep the radiant heating of the sun from getting into my bedroom. I would turn my thermostat even lower, but I know how important it is to be aware of my energy usage. If it weren’t for the high energy bills, I would probably have the AC thermostat down to about fifty.
