A frigid conference room conundrum

The last meeting we had in our office building in the conference room was so terrible! The meeting room itself was freezing cold! We always have our meetings on a Wednesday right before lunch time.

I at least appreciate the fact that these meetings are right before lunch.

I feel that this was done intentionally to make sure that people are less apt to talk about stupid things because everyone wants to get to lunch on time. Staff meetings are probably the most annoying part of the job as far as everyone is concerned. However, they are mandatory, and everyone needs to be in attendance. During this particular meeting I felt like I was going to slowly freeze to death in my chair. Clearly, everyone else was freezing cold too, but we couldn’t seem to change the temperature on the thermostat. Our supervisor informed us that he had actually turned down the temperature on the thermostat shortly before the meeting because he felt it was too warm in the conference room. However, at this point, it was absolutely freezing and he made the excuse that he didn’t realize just how cold it would end up getting in the room. Now we couldn’t even turn the thermostat back up for some reason. You would think that with us working at a multimillion-dollar company’s headquarters, whoever’s in charge would be able to hire a commercial HVAC company to come in and take care of such a glaring issue with the air conditioner. However, I could totally see our boss is not paying for such services because they’re so cheap!
