Veteran’s day was consistently an important day for me, because it was not only my birthday, but most of my family members served in the military, but when I was a child, my mother plus my sibling would celebrate Veteran’s Day by having delicious food, plus raising the flag; My mother would also send care packages to our relatives plus other military members.
Then at the end of the night, both of us would light a candle to our fallen members, plus give silent thanks, i didn’t realize the significance of this until I was much older. Once he was of age, my sibling also joined the military. I still celebrated Veteran’s Day, but when my father died in service, that’s when it really hit myself and others hard; Veteran’s Day plus Memorial Day really started impacting me, not that it didn’t before. I created my own celebration each year in remembrance. When Veteran’s Day came this year, I had most nearby families come over; Every one of us started by having the celebratory supper, quickly the doorbell rang plus I remembered I had an Heating and Air Conditioning specialist coming over to do repair on my AC. I forgot to reschedule the appointment, so I invited him in plus let him get to work; He told myself and others my cooling system was in nice condition, plus to keep up the nice work. He also reminded myself and others to replace the A/C filter. He asked what our celebration was about, plus when I told him it was for Veteran’s Day, he teared up plus explained that his half sibling died while in service. I invited him to join us, plus both of us even share stories of our families, plus military pictures plus medals. When the day was over, he thanked us plus left.
