I couldn’t believe how much trouble I was having.

Walking into the house after work, I immediately knew there was a problem with the air conditioning unit.

The house was hot and stuffy, and the humidity inside seemed much higher than it was outside.

I grabbed my phone from my pocket and called the HVAC company. My phone was dead, and it was going to take at least fifteen minutes to get enough charge to make the phone call. I would need to, stay on hold for at least five minutes, and then wait for the receptionist to set up an appointment to have the AC unit repaired. I thought that sitting out back on the patio would be better than inside. There was a breeze blowing, but it was as hot as the temperature. The only place I knew I could find some comfort was in the bathroom. I had an all-in-one HVAC and light system in the bathroom. I sat on the bench with the air conditioning on high and talked to the HVAC company. I was told it was going to take about a week to get to the house to make any repairs, but they could send some just to do the diagnosis. The four walls in the bathroom seemed to get closer as I thought about needing to live and eat here while waiting to have the AC unit repaired. Since the HVAC tech wouldn’t be there for another hour, I went downtown and bought three fans and a small window AC unit. I would not eat in a bathroom no matter what anyone said.
