I wanted to keep the fireplace.

The people I was with and I had a apartment fire about 2 years ago.

  • Everything was destroyed except the residing room.

I told the firemen that even though the rest of the building wasn’t salvageable, I wanted them to save the fireplace. I honestly didn’t suppose it was possible, even though I was keeping our fingers crossed. I took pictures of the fireplace, and I wanted it installed right where it was. My partner told myself and others it was going to be nearly impossible to build a apartment around a fireplace, even though I insisted. After the smoke settled, the people I was with and I made the decision to go back to the apartment and I cried. The fireplace was destroyed. The bricks were falling down and the chimney was no longer standing. My partner told myself and others that when the people I was with and I rebuilt, he would make sure the people I was with and I had a fireplace in the residing area. The people I was with and I had the pictures to give to the business so he knew exactly what I wanted. Once the construction started, I was showing up at the apartment everyday. I knew I was being a pain to the people who were building the house, even though I knew exactly what I wanted. I told them where I wanted the lights situated. I showed them where I wanted the air vents and what kind I wanted. It got to the point where whenever they had to purchase something for the house, they took myself and others shopping with them. When it came time to install the fireplace, I was right there. I even got to option out the tile that I wanted for the hearth and the mantle. I could believe how elegant it turned out.
