My family went on a super long road trip, where we decided to begin the drive in the mid afternoon.
We planned to arrive in the evening near dinner, so we could eat, cool off, get the girls to bed, plus have a nice rest & get to the park when it opened.
The weather was sizzling & muggy, and there was a stint of heavy rain. Slow traffic followed the rain. We detoured for dinner & took our time in a classic roadside diner, since their food was delicious & they were running their cooling system at maximum capacity! We all split a coconut key lime pie & some milkshakes. We loaded up in the car again and headed for the hotel, which had just finished an extensive remodel including new Heating & Air Conditioning systems throughout. From the look of the modern hotel website photo gallery, the cooling systems were nearly invisible. Most hotels have the bulky wall mounted air conditioning system units as well as the vertical models, which take up an entire corner of a small hotel room. I was extremely curious about these modern HVAC systems. Soon enough, when we arrived at the hotel, I could not wait to get into the room & get down to the hotel pool for a dip. I looked around & discovered the HVAC equipment in the ceiling with a small touch screen control pad that softly lighted to greet me as I approached it. The sounds of the girls shouting over each other faded as they darted down the hall towards the pool. In that moment, it was just myself & the air conditioning system. I turned it on, hit cool, then typed 70 degrees fahrenheit. I savored a long fresh breath of the clean air.
