I’m installing a master suite.

Our house has been too small since the moment we moved in.

We always said that when or if we had a family, we would build a master suite.

I made plans for our master suite, always thinking that someday the family would happen, but wanted the master suite no matter what. Finally, last month, we found out we were going to be parents. I was now going to get my master suite and my family. We called the contractor and told him exactly what I wanted. I wanted a 400 square foot bedroom with a walk-in closet. There had to be a bathroom with a garden tub, his and hers sinks, linen closet, and separate shower. He told me he was going to need to have a HVAC contractor come in because we were going to need heating and air conditioning, plus a ventilation system for the bathroom. When the HVAC contractor arrived, we asked if it would be possible to connect to the existing HVAC system. The HVAC contractor inspected the furnace, air conditioning unit, and the ductwork. He said that everything was in good shape, but he wasn’t sure if they could supply enough airflow to get to the new addition. He said we could put in a new HVAC system for the master suite, or we could get a ductless HVAC system. They had enclosed HVAC systems that included lights and ventilation for the bathroom, but we needed the ductless mini-split for the bedroom. We weren’t worried about the added expense, but we wanted to know which would work best for us.
