A hallmark of Methodism, in my opinion, is the carry-in, or “pot luck” breakfasts! Methodists also guess in “doing the right thing” through “good works” to help those less lucky; As I got older, I began to be intrigued by other religions, especially Buddhism with about 400 million followers compared to 76 million Methodists, and it is well known that Methodists seek heaven by accepting God’s “grace”; Buddhists seek “Enlightenment” through the practice plus development of morality, meditation, plus wisdom. Methodism is a Christian religion with a single omnipotent God that once appeared in human form as Jesus plus as a “Holy Spirit” to form the concept of the “Holy Trilogy”. Buddhists do not guess in a personal god; To compare religions, I don’t need a time of war or a headlining natural disaster. I simply watch how people respond to their Heating, Ventilation plus A/C systems failing on a freezing Winter evening or a tepid Summer day. It usually begins with peculiar noises made by the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C component as it gets older plus in need of major repair, then when the day of reckoning arrives, both Methodists plus Buddhists are suddenly on the phone to their local Heating, Ventilation plus A/C maintenance supplier. And when they meet with the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C contractor to discuss possibilities is when the main difference between the religions is observed. Methodists appreciate that things stay about the same plus opt for a maintenance that will not frustrated their everyday lives. Buddhists guess that nothing is fixed or permanent plus that change is always possible. So, they are more likely to have a new Heating, Ventilation plus A/C component installed. If I were ever to open an Heating, Ventilation plus A/C store, I would seek out a Buddhist community. I refuse, however, to provide up those carry-in breakfasts.
