I had decided to begin my road trip at noon to arrive in the afternoon after supper, so I could eat, cool off, get my things ready, and have a nice rest and get to the park when it opened.
However, the weather was tepid and muggy outside.
I drove through an hour of heavy rain, and sat in traffic. I detoured for supper and took my time in this classic roadside diner because their food was enjoyable and they were running their cooling system on high! I even had coconut key lime pie and a cool refreshing root beer float. I got back on the road again and headed for the hotel which had recently completed an expansive remodel including up-to-date Heating, Ventilation & A/C systems throughout. From the look of their up-to-date hotel website photo gallery, the cooling systems were nearly invisible. I’ve seen several of the bulky wall mounted cooling systems and the vertical models that consume a whole corner of a small hotel room, so I was curious about these up-to-date HVAC systems. Soon enough, when I arrived at the hotel I couldn’t wait to check in, find my room and get down to the pool for a quick dip. I looked around and searched for the HVAC unit in the ceiling with a friendly small touch screen control pad attached to the wall. Any sounds just faded as I spent a quiet moment admiring the cooling system. I touched the on button, then cool setting, then typed 73 degrees fahrenheit. I savored a long fresh breath of that up-to-date room smell, and it was perfect.
