HVAC equipment explained

I’ve had to make some major changes to my house because of my high HVAC bills. It seems to have been even worse this year than ever before. The temperatures this summer have been pretty hot but I don't think they have been all that much worse than usual. So that really leads me to believe that there is some kind of a problem with my air conditioning system. Or maybe it’s my ventilation system or something. I’m not really sure what the deal is, but I do know that I am really not enjoying having to pay so much for air conditioning every single month. It’s driving me crazy. Every month when I open the A/C bill, I get all annoyed and stressed out and I’ve already turned the thermostat up to temperatures that I would usually laugh at during the summer! I’m not even staying cool enough as it is, but by the prices on the A/C bills, you would think that we are living inside an ice cave in this house. We have had to start leaving all the blinds and windows closed all day to keep the sun out and now I have put a passcode on the digital thermostat because I am afraid that one of the kids might try to lower the temperature on the A/C! I guess I’m going to have to call and get some A/C service done because this is getting to be ridiculous. I have to lock down the thermostat in my own house to try and save money on the A/C! Something has to be wrong.
