Sleeping Made Easier

Are you one of those people who likes to have their house at a really cool temperature when you sleep? I certainly am, and in fact, science has now declared that the perfect way to sleep is to have the room dark and cool and have access to fluffy coverings.

That is how I prefer to keep my room, and I always set the thermostat down a few degrees when I go to bed.

In addition to that, I keep the ceiling fan running full blast. Between the a/c cool air and the movement of air by the ceiling fan, I need blankets, even though it is August in the south. I have started sleeping better as a result of the lower thermostat setting, but the least favorite result has been a pretty outrageous electric bill. In my city, the whole bill comes as one bill, so not only am I paying for air conditioning, but also for all the other things the city charges its citizens for, including fire protection, wastewater treatment, water, sewer, and so on. I like to blame the whole bill on the a/c, but it’s not really the case. The cooling does take up the biggest percentage of the monthly utility bill, and sometimes I get an attitude about it. Sometimes I decide I’m going to turn the thermostat back up, but I always give in and go for comfort over money every time. Right now, as I sit here working at my computer, I am thinking about getting a sweater because the a/c is still set at 73 and the ceiling fan is blowing the cold air like crazy.
