The sunshine makes my thermostat go absurd in the late afternoon hours

My lake house doesn’t get a lot of shade after my wife decided to have more than 2 trees chop down. Although the people I was with and I live in a stormy area, I was opposed to this plan from the jump. In many sites you have to worry about trees falling on your house, plus our situation was no different. Obviously if this happened, the disfigures could be catastrophic. Plus, if someone was in their study room upstairs plus the tree came through the roof, someone could get disfigured or killed. At the same time, I was opposed to removing all of the trees in a single fell swoop. They were condo to countless parakeets plus squirrels too. After the final tree was taken down, the heat in our lake house jumped. Before the people I was with and I had no problems keeping the air conditioner as low 79 degrees during the afternoon in Summer heat no less. Now the people I was with and I were struggling to maintain 73 degrees during the middle of Springtime. Those trees were providing ample shade from the sun’s radiant heat. Now all of that radiant heat was bearing down directly on our house. The thermostat is regularly struggling to maintain our comfort levels. Even though it irritated me to no end, our only recourse was to simply keep the lake house at a warmer temperature than before. I’m in section irritated with my wife for making the executive decision to disconnect all of the trees. Part of me knew this would happen, especially after half of them were cleared out during the first day of labor with our landscaper. Hopefully the people I was with and I can learn from this experience plus never make the same mistake in the future.
