The weekend plans fell through after the furnace broke down

No heat came from the furnace.

I wanted to take my wife and kids to the lake for the weekend. The weather was going to be chilly, but I knew we would be warm. My wife and I have a small cabin by the lake. The cabin has two bedrooms and a fireplace. We also have a furnace for times when it is absolutely frigid outdoors. My wife and I arrived at the cabin on Thursday afternoon. The kids immediately started to play outside while my wife and I unpacked the car. We put all of the items inside of the house and we went for a short walk around the property. When my wife and I came back to the cabin, we noticed how cold that end or temperature had become. I just started to make a fire in the fireplace. I grabbed 20 or 30 pieces of wood from an outdoor basket and I placed the pieces of wood by the fireplace. The outdoor temperatures continue to get colder and colder. The backside of the cabin was still very cold even with the fireplace. I decided to turn on the furnace for a few hours. No heat came from the furnace. I tried to work on the furnace issues all night, but I finally gave up and called a professional the next morning. Most of our day on Friday was spent hanging out at the house while the repair technician fixed the furnace. Saturday afternoon we had a snowstorm and 3 inches accumulated on the ground by the cabin. It’s a good thing that we decided to fix the furnace the day before the storm started.
