I desperately need cooler air in my bedroom.
- Unfortunately, I share an apartment with two other roommates and I have no control over the temperature of my room.
My lack of control has nothing to do with my roommates, they’re very kind people. The problem is that I’m at the mercy of the HVAC system we’ve been given and the management team of the apartment. Truth be told, I’ve never seen an HVAC professional service the HVAC systems before, which is probably why our utility bills are outrageous. I need cooler air to sleep, so I’ve been debating between a window AC unit and a ductless mini split system. The ductless mini split system would be a larger investment and it would be harder to take with me. I’d have to hire someone to connect the ductless system and ventilate it properly. It’s easier to use than a window AC unit and makes much less noise, which is a huge plus. The window AC unit would be a bigger distraction and it’s less aesthetically pleasing, but I would be able to install it myself. Once connected to the outlet and secured to the window, I could begin using it right away. I’m not sure how long I plan on living in this apartment, so the ductless mini split system seems like such a waste. However, I don’t want to be up all night due to a loud window AC unit either. I’m going to think about my two AC options for a little longer.
