It’s almost not worth the effort and the whining.
I honestly don’t ask for all that much from my wife and kids.
To go on a camping trip with me once or twice a year isn’t asking a lot. And I’m not talking about braving the wilderness for 10 days either. I’m just talking about getting out of the air conditioning of home and getting outside. This is the operative word. Going outside. I’m really sort of concerned with the amount of time my family spends inside some form of heating and cooling. It really shouldn’t be as much as it is. I encourage the family to get out and do something when the weather is nice. Why would you want to sit inside air conditioning when it’s perfect and sunny outside? This, I don’t get. For me, I make trips out to the woods at least 7 or 8 times a year. Mostly, it’s just weekend trips. Helps me shed the stress I build up from the zone controlled HVAC of the office. And I just seem to be a more balance, easier to get along with human when I get out to nature. But just to get my kids to come with me to see the leaves change over a long weekend took almost my limit. Not only did we have to go car camping but we also had to bring a dang outdoor space heater. I can go along with a campground with bathroom but I may have to draw the line at a space heater outside.
