Going north for the winter just makes no sense to me

I’m really not sure that this should be even considered vacation.

We are packing up the car and the kids to drive north for the winter.

I mean, who does this. Well, we do it appears. I’m not exactly sure how I got talked into it but it happened. We live in a region where the winter weather is just this side of perfect. The heat pump is there if we need HVAC heating but that really doesn’t happen all that often. And we live here very much on purpose. Winter is for tougher folks than me. I married a woman from up north. I even tried on one of those gas furnace winters for two years. But that was it. I’m glad we’re not divorced but there is no way I could live with that sort of winter. We moved me home to the south. But this winter vacation, we are meeting her sister and her family up north for a skiing vacation. I’m sure that this is going to be just great. I mean I like her sister and the brother in law is cool. It’s gonna be a good time. But why the cold? For sure, I understand that there will be plenty of HVAC heating and even a big stout fireplace where we are staying. And skiing is something that I find interesting a few hours at a time. But man, I have to say that I will be quite eager to get home to the sunshine, the blue skies and the absence of snow. I also won’t miss all the HVAC heating in the lodge either.
