We loved our family home.
There was no doubt about that.
And it wasn’t just because we raised our children there. The property was just the most beautiful and we’d spent so many hours landscaping. and, it was just such a cool house. But it became quite clear that this house and property were going to be too much for us. We could hardly take a minute to relax inside the central air conditioning on weekends. That’s because after working all day inside the commercial HVAC of our respective offices, we were too beat to do stuff during the week. It was all we could do to keep groceries in the fridge and wear clean clothes. So that meant doing all those chores over the weekend. By the time we would get to Sunday evening, we were exhausted. Of course, this led us to be dragging ourselves into that commercial HVAC at the office on Monday. It was tough to admit but it was time to downsize and do more enjoying of our weekends. So once we accepted this as fact, it was time to get to work upgrading the house to get it on the market. The first thing we tackled was the residential HVAC. We’d always had great quality heating and air but the heat pump was getting long in the tooth. The heating and cooling costs were spiking so it was time for that anyway. The new residential HVAC was a big time benefit when it came to attracting prospective buyers. We’re now in a much smaller home and enjoying our time off a whole lot more.
