My child as well as his husband have been helping to put the cooling unit in the window for the past three years. This year, my son-in-law wasn’t in the mood to help. He told me that for $5000 all of us could put central air conditioner in the entire home. If I had $5000 I may consider it, but not for long. Central air conditioner needs to have HVAC duct if it is going to circulate in and around the house. I would need to hire a crew to install the HVAC duct as well as then only half of my house would be air conditioned. Our house was built in sections over the decades. Before all of us bought the house, the owners had built a room onto the house. It had been raised off the ground, but it was only about six or seven inches off. There is no crawl area to install the HVAC duct. My son-in-law looked taken aback when I said this aloud. He apologized as well as said he was just in a poor mood.
